Nov18
Longevity Wines at Buon Appetito For November, we will be featuring Longevity Wines of Livermore. Longevity Wines was founded by Phil & Debra Long in 2008, and two of their wine blends ("phil-osophy" and "deb-ru-vee") are named for them. One of our members, Shiena Avila, works for Longevity, and introduced us to their wines.  Chef Martino Oviedo is giving us some things we haven't had in a while at Buon Appetito.

All attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination - if you showed proof at a previous dinner, you will not be required to do so again - (or a recent negative test result for those who cannot get vaccinated).

Dec16
Quady Winery at Buon Appetito Since we started this group twenty-seven years ago, December has always featured bubbles: Champagne or its California equivalent. However, the 2020 - 2021 year has been so "different", that we decided to try something different. This December we will be featuring wines from Quady Winery of Madera California. Renown for their sweet, fortified Muscats, and their Port-like wines. Recently, they have added Vermouths to their portfolio.  Meanwhile, in Oregon, Herb Quady (son of Quady Winery founders, Andrew & Laurel Quady, our speakers) started making wines of more "traditional" table wine varieties. For this dinner, Buon Appetito Executive Chef Martino has us pairing some sweet wines with savory dishes on some courses. Karen & Keith Kato were present at the menu planning and they said:
  • "Sounds intriguing, enticing, mouth watering and too good to be true."  -Karen
  • "Creative pairings that will awaken the curiosity of our members."  - Keith.

Sounds like a winner to me.

You might notice that the first two wines we are serving are Vermouths. If you are one of those that like to have a pre-meal cocktail, and if, by chance your cocktail of choice is a Martini or Manhattan, order one without the vermouth and "blend your own".

December is also when we recognize those members who have been active participants, with what we call Diablo Point prizes. This years ponts will be actually be for two years, both 2020 and 2021.

As always, All attendees will be required to show proof vaccination - if you showed proof at a previous dinner, you will not be required to do so again - (or a recent negative test result for those who cannot get vaccinated)
